Growing up in Visalia, in California’s San Joaquin Valley, I knew in 1st Grade that I wanted to be a dentist. I had good early dental experiences and those influenced my interests in oral healthcare. That calling never changed as I grew up and now I have the privilege of serving my community as a dentist.
As a family dentist, I meet and have the pleasure of getting to know people of all ages and from all walks of life. Each person has their own stories, knowledge, and dreams to share. They each, also, have their own expectations of me and what my team and I provide.
By taking time to really listen to a patient, to learn who they are and what they want from me, I show each person I care about them. Listening builds connections and trust, leading to a mutually respectful relationship grounded in communication and understanding.
As a dentist I have the opportunity, with each person who comes to me for care, to help and even heal them. I cannot imagine a more rewarding career.
Education and Experience
I attended the University of California, San Diego, where I received a Bachelor of Science in General Biology. This was followed by dental school, at the University of the Pacific in San Francisco, where I obtained my Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS).
I have been in private practice since 2009 and now have my own practice. In building this practice, I have dedicated myself to providing a safe, welcoming, and comfortable space where we care for people, not only their oral health.
My team is the bedrock of the office and the reason we are the dental home for many families. Each team member has years of experience and is a true professional. They share my love for oral health, for quality dentistry, and for accommodating service. Above all, my team has incredible empathy and each member goes out of their way to connect with, educate, reassure, and support our patients.
Professional Affiliations and Continuing Education
I am an active member of the:
- American Dental Association
- California Dental Association
- San Diego County Dental Society
- SPEAR Study Club
Through these organizations I have access to numerous opportunities to further enhance my knowledge, abilities, and services for patients. Dentistry is a constantly advancing field and it is crucial I stay up-to-date on current best practices and technology. Through continuing education (CE) – attending meetings, lectures, and seminars, and participating in study groups – I ensure patients receive the best of modern dental care.
Additionally, CE has allowed me to build a network of trusted and highly-skilled peers and oral healthcare specialists. When a patient needs to be referred out for specialized care, like oral surgery or orthodontics, I have the ideal professional(s) to send them to, knowing they will receive the best care possible.
Beyond Dentistry
I have lived in Point Loma, San Diego, since 2002. When I go home in the evening it’s to spend time with the most amazing people I know: my family!
My wife Becca and I have four amazing children: Grant is our oldest son, then comes our oldest daughter Giuliana, younger son Greyson, and youngest daughter Genesie. Not to be overlooked is Kona, our beloved Aussiedoodle.
Our children have many extracurricular interests and activities, including MADCAPS and TVIA. Supporting and attending these events keep all of us on the go. That said, I also enjoy staying home and relaxing. Among my personal interests are travel, photography, and creating, building, and organizing. I also enjoy church and church-related activities.
